Budowsphere

Rabbi Budow
I am now one week past my heart surgery and realize that I am one of the “lucky” ones fortunate enough to undergo this as “elective surgery.” I say “lucky” because my condition was discovered before there was any heart damage, and due to a good exercise regime my veins were healthy enough to use to replace my four clogged arteries. My surgeon, Dr. Anderson, says that I now virtually have a new heart. I give thanks to Dr. Anderson and to my friend Dr. Gregg Pressman for all of his help.
After my surgery I talked to Dr. Anderson about goals for the “new” me. I recounted that for the past few years I have not walked up to Masada with the 8th grade students as I did for many years previously. I told him that I excused my absence to the students by joking that I had done it 30 times already and that they didn’t need me there, but the real reason was that I found myself getting out of breath during the climb. Dr. Anderson assured me, “You can do it now.”
With that in mind I told him that my goal this year is to walk up to Masada with the 8th graders and get to the top waving a big sign stating, “Thank You, Dr. Anderson.” He immediately said, “I need a picture of that to frame and hang in my office.”
So, I promise that am not going to “wimp out” like I have for the past few years and intend to achieve my grand goal of walking to the top of Masada with my banner this year in Israel!!
L’Shalom-
Rabbi Ira Budow

You can attend this fun-filled event
FOR FREE!
It’s easy to do- Sell only four ¼ page ads or any combination of ads that total $1440 and you get FREE admission to this event for your entire family (parents and children) – You know you can do it!
Everyone knows people whom they can solicit during this once-a-year fund raising appeal to support our school and our children. Ask the people whom you know- your attorney, doctor, accountant, local businesses that you frequent, grandparents and other relatives- you get the idea. All you have to do now is make your list, go out with the ad journal forms, and ask your prospects for their ads!
Help us to make this year’s fund raising event a huge success. We can only do it with everyone’s cooperation, and selling ads is a simple way to make a real difference to the school and to attend this family-centered community event for FREE!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Abrams Hebrew Academy Community Family Fun Day- March 13. 2016!!

Support for the Golani Brigade
Yoni Hadar, a solider in the IDF’s Golani Brigade, spoke to AHA middle school students several months ago about his life and experiences in the Israeli Army. He told the students about a nonprofit to raise funds to provide helmets, knee pads, and water canteens to the soldiers in the his brigade.
The goal for this worthy project is $50,000, and they have already raised $42,000. If you’d like to help you can donate at:
All the money goes through a tax deductible organization, and there are no overhead costs. Every donation goes directly towards buying equipment for a soldier.

Just a reminder of AHA security procedures:

  • All parents should use the front door to enter the school with key cards and not the back doors. Parent swipe cards only work at front door.
  • Please do not ask students to open any doors- parents must report to the front office and check-in before entering the school.
  • No student or other person should use the lunchroom doors other than for dismissal or emergency purposes.

These rules are for our children’s safety.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Car Pool Rules

All Parents who Car Pool:

Please note that the car pool line is for grades N and K only. All other students are to be dropped off in the front of the building.

Parents who use the back for drop off should follow the directions of the teachers in the parking lot. They are there to assist students and maintain a safe environment.

Under no circumstances are parents to park their cars in the middle of the line and leave them unattended to walk students into the building.

** We ask that parents refrain from cellphone use in the parking areas while dropping off and picking up their children.
