The Budowsphere

There is an old saying that “parting is such sweet sorrow,” and those words resonate deeply at Abrams at this time. We are happy for the people involved, but we are also sorry to say goodbye to wonderful members of our faculty.

Barbara Wisnoff has taught nursery at Abrams for 20 years and was my own daughter’s teacher. I remember her then as a consummate professional, always relating well to parents, children, and colleagues, and she still retains all of those wonderful qualities. She has been a great teacher and staff member, and it is amazing to me that she has been able to maintain her passion and enthusiasm throughout these many years.

Caren Solomon has also taught at Abrams for almost 20 years and was my daughter’s piano teacher. She brought magic to the school with every concert and play, and she has touched every student and helped every teacher along the way. Her professionalism, enthusiasm, and spirit have made an invaluable contribution to our community.

Finally, Estie Shemtov told me that she is engaged to be married and will be leaving us; hopefully not forever! Estie is a powerhouse as a teacher and a woman, and she is much-loved by everyone. I often laughed as I saw her walking down the halls with her students every day, teaching them how to be quiet and orderly, but also letting them know that she loved them and therefore was loved in return.  I hope that she will come back to Abrams, just as her sister Chaya will do in the fall.

As you all know, I love a party, so on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. we will celebrate these three talented, strong, and wonderful women at a party with musical entertainment by Shaya Solomon and lots of fun for all.

Everyone is invited to attend this historic Simcha- students, parents, alumni, and friends of the school alike. Please join us in recognizing these faculty members as they embark on new journeys.

Best,

Rabbi Ira Budow

Ellen Hartenstein’s Retirement Party

The party for Ellen Hartenstein

was a terrific success!

The atmosphere was warm and loving, the food and music were great, and everyone had the opportunity to wish Ellen the best of everything in her next phase of life. T

The dedication plaque in the library is a beautiful and lasting tribute to someone who has given so much to the school and touched so many lives through the years.

Special thanks to all of the AHA family who helped in so many ways! Particular thanks go to Sonia Arusy and

Rabbi O for their hard work.

Mazal Tov Ellen!!!

padlock

Just a reminder of AHA security procedures:

  • All parents should use the front door to enter the school with key cards and not the back doors. Parent swipe cards only work at front door.
  • Please do not ask students to open any doors- parents must report to the front office and check-in before entering the school.
  • No student or other person should use the lunchroom doors other than for dismissal or emergency purposes.

These rules are for our children’s safety.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Car Pool Rules

All Parents who Car Pool:

Please note that the car pool line is for grades N and K only. All other students are to be dropped off in the front of the building.

Parents who use the back for drop off should follow the directions of the teachers in the parking lot. They are there to assist students and maintain a safe environment.

Under no circumstances are parents to park their cars in the middle of the line and leave them unattended to walk students into the building.

** We ask that parents refrain from cellphone use in the parking areas while dropping off and picking up their children.
