EITC/OSTC Programs

Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) / Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) enable Pennsylvania businesses and individuals to direct their state taxes to Abrams to be used as scholarships for eligible students.

Business Applicants

Businesses of all sizes that pay PA state tax may qualify, including LLC, S-Corp. C-Corp, and Partnerships. Applications must be submitted by July 1 in order to increase the likelihood of selection. Applications are randomly selected until all available PA tax credits are assigned.

Individual Applicants

Individuals who pay PA state tax may qualify to participate through a Special Purpose Entity, an LLC through which an individual’s PA tax dollars become tax credits for scholarship support.

Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program

Since 2001, the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program has allowed eligible Pennsylvania businesses to and individuals to receive tax credits for contributions to approved organizations, like Abrams Hebrew Academy. The program has been instrumental in Abrams mission to provide an affordable Jewish education to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. EITC funds make financial support available to students who might otherwise be unable to attend Abrams, and it provides participants with state tax credits of up to 90% of their contribution to Abrams.

Pennsylvania’s Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program

The OSTC program also provides tax credits to businesses or individuals that make contributions to approved organizations, like Abrams Hebrew Academy. The contributions provide tuition assistance in the form of scholarships to eligible students residing within the boundaries of a low-achieving school to attend another public school outside of their district or nonpublic school. Like the EITC program, the OSTC program supports tuition assistance but it designates the scholarships to students from specific home districts.
